This project involved the asbestos abatement and demolition of 5 buildings on this East Coast Canadian Forces Base. Once all of the identified Asbestos containing materials was removed from within all of the buildings, the demolition proceeded. All of the slab-on-grade and foundations were then removed. 1,739,213 KG of contaminated soil was excavated, removed and disposed of. The cavity was then backfilled and compacted with granular and leveled, followed by the installation of new heavy duty asphalt to make a new parking lot, complete with painted lines.
This project was remotely managed from our Hamilton, Ontario facility, while a Key Site Supervisor, key crew members and equipment traveled out to Nova Scotia. The Project Manager utilized as much local forces as possible to assist the Site Supervisor in completing the project.
